Match Analysis

The Gujarat Fortunegiants must be supremely confident of going up against any side at the moment. Their run of six wins a row also included a tight win against U Mumba, considered by many the strongest side in PKL this season.

The Furtunegiants have scored an astonishing 192 points in their last five games while conceding just 151.

The man leading the offense for the Gujarat Fortunegiants has been Sachin. He has 41 Raid Points in the last five games and is in excellent form. He is very much in the mold of Siddharth Desai as a young powerful raider that is leading his side to consistent victories.

If anything, the more measured approach that Sachin takes actually allows him to score more points without being reckless.

On the defensive side, the Gujarat Fortunigiants have Parvesh Bhainswal to thank. He has 19 tackle points in the last five games and a total of 27 from 8 games this season. Playing at the left-cover position, Bhainswal has been instrumental in keeping the opposing raiders under check.

The Bengal Warriors are coming into this match on the back of a loss against the Patna Pirates. They after a decent start to the competition, they have won just two out of their last five matches. Like we mentioned earlier, the Bengal Warriors are still very much in the race for a playoff spot but cannot afford too many more mistakes.

Their poor recent form is also reflected in the fact that they have scored just 156 points in the last five matches and conceded 162.

Their two most renowned stalwarts are leading the charge this season. Maninder Singh has been the best raider for the Bengal Warriors while PO Surjeet Singh has led the defense admirably.

Maninder Singh has scored 75 points from 8 games, an excellent return, but the emergence of some truly exceptional raiders in the PKL seems to have left him behind the curve. A strong performance against a team like the Gujarat Fortunegiants could be the opportunity he is looking for to make a statement.

With 12 tackle points in his last five games, PO Surjeet Singh has led the Bengal Warriors well in defense but he will be aware of the need to do more. Especially against one of the best attacking sides in the competition.

Key stat

The Gujarat Fortunegiants and the Bengal Warriors have met just twice in the PKL so far. The Gujarat Fortunegiants recorded one victory and tied the other game. We think that the home side will be very keen to try and maintain its unbeaten record against the Bengal Warriors.

Verdict

There is no team in better form than the Gujarat Fortunegiants. They are coming into this match well rested and with all players fit.

It is difficult to see the Bengal Warriors starting their climb up the table with this match.

Back the Gujarat Fortungiants to win.
