Gujarat Fortunegiants
The Gujarat Fortunegiants have had a week’s rest after their home leg and that may be the best thing for the team. They were looking frazzled by the end of their home leg and the desperation to win was preventing them from playing their normal game.
We don’t think there is too much wrong with the Gujarat Fortunegiants. Sachin, their lead raider, has been subdued this season and this is preventing them from picking up enough points on the offense.
Consistent raid points and all-outs are a must for any team to be successful. The defense has been quite good thanks to Parvesh Bhainswal and Sunil Kumar being in form but even they have tended to make errors in trying to compensate for their raiding deficiencies.
Rohit Gulia and Sachin must find their best form otherwise the Gujarat FOrtunegiants need to look for someone else to do the job. It is as simple as that.
Patna Pirates
A woeful performance by the Patna Pirates saw them lose tamely to the Bengal Warriors as they failed to pick up even one point from the game. The offense was numb for the first half and most of the second, only coming to life when the game was well and truly beyond them.
Pardeep Narwal picked up a Super-10 but it was not a good performance from him in our opinion. Picking up points late in the game when there is nothing at stake and even the defenders are trying audacious moves for the fun of it is not something that should give you pleasure as a raider.
Mohammad Esmaeil Maghsoudlou has lost form completely and is unable to provide support to Pardeep Narwal.
The defense of the Patna Pirates was quite average against the Bengal Warriors and there were far too many errors being made. It remains to be seen if Jaideep can rally the defense to put in an inspired performance against the struggling Gujarat Fortunegiants raiders.
The Gujarat Fortunegiants have won four out of the five matches that the two teams have played against each other. The form of both teams coming into this match is woeful and this is why the historical advantage enjoyed by the Gujarat Fortunegiants could be important to the spirits of the players.
We think the Gujarat Fortunegiants are a much better team than the Patna Pirates and should be able to end their losing streak in this match.
