The Gujarat Fortunegiants were very disappointed with their performance in Qualifier 1. The team looked out of sorts and was not able to execute on its plans. Tellingly, the defense of the Gujarat Fortunegiants seemed to be making mistakes unlike what they had done in the entire season of Pro Kabaddi 6.
We have no doubt that the Gujarat Fortunegiants would have worked on their mistakes and will come back a stronger side. The likes of Parvesh Bhainswal and Sunil Kumar are going to come back rejuvenated and looking for redemption. The pair may have an easier time against U.P. Yoddha than it did against the Bengaluru Bulls, although, both sides have a trio of raiders to utilize.
Gujarat Fortunegiants also must be careful of not becoming too defensive in this match. They have two excellent raiders that must be unleashed without any restraints on the opposition. Sachin and Prepanjan are good enough to score raid points against any defense and must not change their style of play just because they are up against an in-form U.P. Yoddha side.
U.P. Yoddha has captured the imagination of each and every Pro Kabaddi League fan. The side is an example of what is possible if you keep fighting till the very last moment. U.P Yoddha was undefeated in its last six matches to squeak it into the Super Playoffs and has since been dominant against some highly fancied sides.
The question now on everyone’s lips is whether they can continue this fairy tale to the very end? Can U.P. Yoddha actually make the Grand Final or even go on to win the title?
There are several things going for U.P. Yoddha. The first and foremost if the form of Nitesh Kumar. He has proven himself as the best defender in the league with his performances in the last few weeks. He is aggressive but not foolhardy and picks on the leading raider from the opposition.
Nitesh Kumar is well supported by Jeeva Kumar and their battle against Sachin is going to be decisive to the outcome of the match.
U.P. Yoddha’s three raiders, Prashanth Kumar Rai, Rishank Devadiga, and Shrikanth Jhadav are very adept. They will test the strong Gujarat Fortunegiants defense. Getting off to a good start is going to be key for them because we don’t think they are going to be able to make a comeback if they fall back too much.
No team has lost as few matches as the Gujarat Fortunegiants in Pro Kabaddi 6. Their loss in the last match was their first in seven matches. U.P. Yoddha’s unbeaten streak now extends to eight matches with a tie being the only blemish during that time.
The Gujarat Fortunegiants have been brilliant in this season of the Pro Kabaddi 6 and they will not become a weak team overnight. The entire momentum though seems to be on the side of U.P. Yoddha. We think it is wise to continue to back them at this moment.
