Puneri Paltan has been going through a terrible patch of form in the PKL right now. They have lost four out of the last five matches they have played and come into this match on the back of two straight losses.
This recent run of poor form included losses to some teams which the Puneri Paltan would have been expected to beat. The side must raise its game and try to channel the kind of form that saw them beat U Mumba earlier in the tournament.
The leading raider for the side in recent matches has been Monu but he has managed just 11 raid points in the last five matches. This indicates that there is a serious problem with the Puneri Paltan offense. With players like Nitin Tomar, More GB, and Rajesh Mondal in the squad, Puneri Paltan should be scoring a lot more points.
Perhaps a change in their strategy and some help from the defense could go a long way in helping the offense as well.
Leading the defense for the Puneri Paltan is going to be Sandeep Narwal, an all-rounder who can contribute on the other side of the mat as well. He will be supported by Girish Maruti Ernak, the skipper of the side who has 33 tackle points in the tournament so far.
Crucially, 29 off those 33 points came in the first seven matches of the tournament.
The Bengal Warriors are in a very tough zone and that is perhaps the reason why they are struggling in Pro Kabaddi 6 a bit. The Warriors are also coming into this match on the back of two losses and would keen to change things around.
Maninder Singh continues to be the lead raider for the Bengal Warriors. He has 81 raid points in the season and will surely be eyeing another season with 100 plus raid points to his name. His battle with Girish Maruti Ernak is going to be pivotal for the game, particularly as Ernak is struggling with his form massively.
The Bengal Warriors would be aware of the weakness in its own defense as well. The Puneri plan has some high-quality raiders which could take advantage. Thankfully for the Bengal Warriors, Baldev Singh has emerged as a quality defender to try and stop the opposing raiders.
He has played just five games for the Warriors so far but is one of the players to watch out for in this match.
There have been 11 matches played between the two sides. Puneri Paltan holds a slim advantage of 604 with one tie over the Bengal Warriors. This is not something that is going to affect the two teams going into this match though.
Current form of both the sides is pretty poor but the Bengal Warriors have been consistently a better team than the Puneri Paltan.
Back The Bengal Warriors to win.
